About Dianne Thompson
Dianne Thompson is a Canadian artist who lives in Victoria, BC. Her style reflects her love of nature, particularly the light, colours and textures found in the world around her. Working primarily in acrylic and watercolour, she captures the beauty of landscapes and scenes through both realistic and abstracted styles. Her work is known for its expressive colour, creative compositions and the varying textures she creates on canvas.
Dianne has been involved with art in some form all her life. She began drawing at a very young age and learned to paint through art classes as a teenager. In the early 1990s, she studied with Ward Schell and other accomplished painters in Regina, Saskatchewan, and became involved with the art community through the Prairie Artists Guild. Although she eventually put her brushes aside while raising her children and building her career, her passion for creativity never left her.

About Dianne Thompson
For more than 16 years, Dianne was the Owner and Lead Interior Stylist at Simply Stunning Designs before moving to BC. She is a Certified Canadian Staging Professional and Certified Colour Consultant, experiences that helped develop her strong eye for colour, composition and design. After seeing how much impact original artwork could have in the homes she staged, Dianne began creating her own large paintings to incorporate into her designs, eventually bringing her back to painting more regularly.
Her return to painting also led her to explore mural work. Dianne has created wall and fence murals, including a 20-foot commissioned fence mural (click on the picture to expand), and worked alongside fellow Prairie Artists Guild members on a large mural for Capital Electric. In 2017, she travelled to Flagstaff, Arizona, to take two workshops with accomplished muralist Joe Cornelius. After moving to BC, she continued creating murals and was commissioned to paint an ocean mural for the Yacht Club office building at Westport Marina in Sidney, BC.
